Den vise Ravn opdager, at den er til, og skaber Himlen, Jorden, Menneskene og alle Jordens Dyr

We found The Raven Myth in a book by the Danish writer and arctic explorer Knud Rasmussen. He calls it a legend and gives it the title Den vise Ravn opdager, at den er til, og skaber Himlen, Jorden, Menneskene og alle Jordens Dyr, which is: The Raven discovers its own existence and creates the Sky, Man and all Animals of the Earth.

The story is a true creation myth, arctic but with indian influence. Knud Rasmussen retells the myth after it was told him by Apagkaq, a storyteller from Liverpool Bay in arctic Canada, in 1926. Knud Rasmussen calls Apagkaq a "divinely granted storyteller" and his stories "noble stuff".

Knud Rasmussens version of The Raven Myth is printed in Fra Grønland til Stillehavet. Rejser og mennesker fra 5. Thule-ekspedition (From Greenland to the Pacific Ocean. Travellings and Men from the 5th Thule-expedition).
